Project Overview

Location: Industrial Facility – Pakistan

Envirogreen Technical Services (Pvt.) Ltd. conducted a comprehensive steam trap inspection and assessment across the facility’s steam distribution network. The primary objective was to identify malfunctioning steam traps, reduce steam losses, and improve overall system efficiency. Inefficient steam systems, often caused by leaking or blocked traps, can significantly drive up fuel consumption and operational costs in industrial settings.

Key Results & Findings

  • 14% Failure Rate Identified: 19 out of 85 traps were found to be malfunctioning due to leakage or blockage.
  • Live Steam Leakage: 12 traps were leaking live steam, causing direct energy losses.
  • System Imbalance: 7 traps were blocked, leading to improper condensate discharge.
  • Efficiency Potential: High potential for system improvement through structured maintenance and monitoring.

Our Innovative Solution

Envirogreen implemented a structured inspection methodology. The assessment utilized specialized techniques including:

  • Ultrasonic testing techniques
  • Temperature measurement
  • Visual inspection of trap operation
  • System performance evaluation

Based on these findings, targeted corrective actions were recommended to eliminate steam losses and optimize condensate management.

Pre vs Post Assessment

Pre-Assessment (Challenges) Post-Assessment (Outcomes)
Undetected steam losses through leaking traps Faulty traps identified and corrective actions defined
Blocked traps causing condensate buildup Steam losses minimized through leakage detection
Increased fuel consumption and operational costs Improved condensate discharge and system balance

The Outcome

This assessment provided the facility with critical visibility into system inefficiencies. Our structured approach supports enhanced operational efficiency, reduced fuel consumption, and improved system reliability.
